Kacy Catanzaro didn't see the signs. On May 2, a plethora of stars were released from WWE. The former Katana Chance was part of the cuts alongside her tag team partner, Kayden Carter. A little over a month after the release, Catanzaro sat down with Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. Van Vliet asked Catanzaro if she saw any signs that her release was on the horizon. “So I didn’t realize there were clues until I was explaining how the last few weeks went, and then I was like, Okay, maybe? So we got moved from Raw to SmackDown in the switch-ups. So it wasn’t like a draft, but people were getting moved around. I’m like, Okay, well you always kind of have to take both sides. Everything that happens can feel like it’s a bad thing, and then I just won’t survive that way. So then I always have to try and make it positive. So we got moved from Raw to SmackDown. Originally, you’re like oh man, Raw just got moved to Netflix. That’s really big and now they’re taking us off of it. Is that bad? But then people are like, well, there’s more time on SmackDown, we want more storylines for you guys. Cool, that’s believable. I love that. So we get to SmackDown, there’s a big pay-per-view coming up, so the stories are all kind of already happening for the pay-per-view for the next two weeks. So we’re like, okay, we’re not doing anything yet. Again, makes sense. That’s how things happen. That totally makes sense. So then the pay-per-view passes. Now it’s another month or so, we’re pitching stuff. We’re pitching all the angles, sending storylines in, trying to get in. We’re trying to fit into what’s already happening, trying to pitch off the wall stuff that could be cool and different, whatever. So as it gets closer, now we’re getting to Mania season. So now it’s like a month before WrestleMania. We’re like, okay, I know that if something that we’re doing isn’t in WrestleMania, anything can happen, because everything has to lead up to that. Times get changed and stories need more time or get changed. So we were supposed to be leading to this six-woman tag with me, Lacey [Kayden Carter] and Zelina against Chelsea, Piper and Alba. So we’re like, okay, cool, it’ll be some tag stuff, some single stuff. This will be great. They start having their singles matches, which is supposed to lead to a tag, which is supposed to lead this, whatever. Things keep changing where it just keeps getting pushed. So they had a singles. The next week was supposed to be the six woman, then it didn’t happen. We were like, Oh, well will there be a backstage? But then it didn’t happen. Zelina had something, and we’re like, Oh, are we gonna be there with her? And they were like, no, no, we’re just gonna do this first. Then it was the week of WrestleMania and it was supposed to happen, and then the day before it got pushed. We were like, Okay, again, it’s WrestleMania weekend. Of course something more important having to do with the show happened. Not very weird. Move on." Catanzaro then proceeded to detail some of her team's post-WrestleMania woes. "Now we’re post WrestleMania, and there was a charity event that I do often with someone who has worked with NXT and with WWE. It wasn’t a WWE event, but they would let us go there. We weren’t signing anything. It was just for a good cause. I’ve done it for years, and one of the NXT girls that was invited had messaged me and said something to the effect of I can’t do it, and they’ll let me know why soon. I was like, sounds weird, but people are weird. Who knows? My boyfriend says, I wonder if it’s because they’re gonna do releases. I was like, but that wouldn’t really make sense because it’s not a WWE event, so they wouldn’t care. It wasn’t being posted anywhere, it was just for a good cause. I’m like, that’s weird. Then the person doing the charity event messaged me and said another wrestler was like, Oh, I wonder if releases are happening. I’m like, Okay, two people is weird. I actually made a joke to my boyfriend when he said it. I was like, if I get released, will you still love me? You know how girls are crazy? And he was like yes, of course. But I only made that joke because I didn’t actually think that it was happening. Then another joke is, if you get a 203 number because it’s a Connecticut area code, you’re in trouble. We didn’t travel that week, another sign. But I was like, Okay, we don’t have a story yet. No big deal." Catanzaro wrapped up the topic by detailing the phone call that she got while she was working out. "So I’m working out in my garage, and I get a phone call, and it’s not a 203 number so I ignore it because I’m working out. Then it calls again. You know how sometimes it’s like, might be this person? It called a second time, and I was like, Okay. I look and it said, might be so and so. I was like, oh, no. I knew right away. I picked up the phone, and I was like, hello? Then I was like, Oh, this is it. I’ve thought about that moment so many times that when it happened, I felt like I wasn’t in my body. I was on the phone answering and then when I hung up, I was like, I feel like I should have said more or asked more questions. I think I was just like, okay, okay, bye. It’s such a weird feeling. So at the moment, I had no idea. Then as I retell the story, I’m like I was trying not to be like, negative and nervous. But as I say it, I’m like, okay, these were probably signs.” Elsewhere in a seperate interview, Catanzaro stated that she doesn't know if she ever found herself in WWE. Alexa Bliss made her return to television in the 2025 women's Royal Rumble, entering at number 21. It was Alexa's first appearance on TV in two years. Fightful Select reported that Shotzi was originally planned for the Rumble. Speaking to Daria Berenato (Sonya Deville) and Toni on Unwrapped, Shotzi confirmed she was replaced by Alexa. "I heard mixed messages," Shotzi said about even being in the Rumble initially. "A couple of producers said I was always in the Rumble. Then they told me last minute. I don't know. I was very confused by it, but they didn't relay anything to me until the day before. It was like 3 PM the day before Rumble and they were like, 'Can you get on a flight in a couple of hours?' I'm like, 'Oh my God, I'm not ready for this.' I packed my bags. I don't even know what I put in the bags. Got to the airport in an hour and it led to nothing." Daria noted that Shotzi was part of rehersals, and asked when Shotzi found out when she wouldn't be in the match. "The day of, I got told while I was in the makeup chair that I wasn't in it," said Shotzi. Shotzi then confirmed Alexa was the one who replaced her. "Honestly, if you're going to take me out for anyone, at least make it be the biggest pop for the night. I have to say, Alexa had no idea someone was getting replaced. She had no idea any of that was going on. She felt so bad and she came up to me after and was like, 'Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I didn't even realize they were taking someone out to get me in,'" she said. Shotzi was part of NXT at the time of the Rumble, just returning from a knee injury in December. Shotzi's contract was not renewed by WWE in May. If you use any of the quotes above, please credit and link to the original source with a h/t and link back to Fightful for the transcription.

Multiple updates from Goldberg going into his final match. Goldberg's final match under the WWE banner is going to take place and he's been providing updates through media appearances and on his CarCast podcast. On the latest installment of the podcast, Goldberg said he knows the date of his retirement match. He shared that in preparation for it, he's hurt himself a couple of times over the past three months. He has set a high bar for himself but knows it's unrealistic. He spoke about gaining weight for the match and almost got up to 270 pounds. He stopped because he was not feeling well. The WWE Hall of Famer added that he's nervous to put on his traditional ring trunks and might switch it up. “I know the date (of my retirement match). No one else knows the date public-wise, and so, at my age, you obviously have to do a lot of different things to get yourself prepared for what I’m about to embark upon and I mean, it’s uncharted water because not many people my age have done this, and I’m not just showing up to show up. I need to show up and be me and I’ve tapped into me a little bit more as of late and my training, with all injuries and with my age, it makes it extremely difficult to get prepared without going overboard… I hurt myself a couple times in the past three months. But, I pulled back and it’s really tough to have the mentality I do but to have the body that I do now, with the mileage on it and then go into the Muay Thai gym and hit the pads and not go crazy and then blow (your) shoulder out and blow your bicep out and pull your hamstring from throwing a high kick. There’s a huge balance and I’ve been in the ring a couple times. I’m gonna get in the ring again today and it’s just tough, man. It is tough. Me doing that right there, that was the first day that I felt really good. It’s just tough. I’ve got a very high bar to set that I set for myself and 99 times out of a hundred, it’s unrealistic. I’ve gotta be in a certain place mentally and physically to be able to accomplish what I’m about to embark upon and it’s really tough. It’s really tough. I mean, take every single thing out of it. Let’s just talk about food. Let’s talk about how much I have to eat to gain weight at this age and to gain good weight. Not just around my stomach. I freakin’ eat eight times a day, and I walk around and I feel like I’m about to throw up at any given moment because I’m just completely full of frickin’ food, and I had to back off. I gained some good weight. I was almost up to 270 and I had to back off because I could not function. I just couldn’t do it. I felt horrible, I wasn’t able to move around. I (was) just sluggish, you know? And so, I changed the diet back a little bit… Man, I’m never gonna be the way that I used to be by any stretch of the imagination. But dammit, for a 58-year-old guy, I’m gonna be in some seriously freakin’ awesome shape and I’m gonna freak some people out I believe and hopefully my performance is equal to my appearance which hopefully, you know, is okay. I’m terrified to put those underwear, those trunks on again. I may even go with different kind of trunks, for the only time in my life.” Goldberg went on to share that he has a left knee issue. He can run, but not at a 100 percent level. He also opened up about rehabbing his right shoulder which had been giving him trouble for the past five years. “And then there’s another thing. I’m extremely limited because of my left knee. I can’t run. I mean, I can run but, it hurts. So I’m not gonna exacerbate the pain by going out and running. I’m on a sprint bike and I’m doing different stuff for my cardio. The kickboxing doesn’t hurt that much because I’m not running. But, you find ways around things and I mean, the scenario’s not perfect by any stretch so you gotta work around stuff. Hell, I’m working around my shoulder that you remember six months ago, I couldn’t do this (lift my arm). I’m pretty frickin’ strong now, I mean, comparatively and it’s funny because ever since we moved here, I haven’t been able to use my arm for five years. I just didn’t use it because it hurt so bad and I’ve had to retrain myself to do the normal, daily things and use my arm, and that’s what's gotten me back into it. It’s just not favoring it by any stretch and not having it be a hindrance by any means and going out of my way to do everything with my right hand as opposed to before; everything with my left hand… I became a lefty as a kid because I broke my right arm.” In a prior media appearance, Goldberg said his final WWE match is taking place in the South. On July 12th, WWE is presenting Saturday Night's Main Event from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Goldberg is billed from Atlanta. He played college football at the University of Georgia and played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons.
