Kevin Kelly looks back on working with The Rock. During his time in WWE working as a backstage interviewer during The Attitude Era, Kevin Kelly would find himself on the end of a verbal dressing down from The Rock on several occasions. While speaking to Rewind, Recap, Relive, Kelly spoke about working with The Rock, recalling the first time The Rock was brought to a show by his father. "It was always so much fun, Dwayne and I worked together in Florida when he was first getting started. It was only one time, but his dad, Rocky Johnson was wrestling down there. I was ring announcing, just getting my start, my career, and Dwayne came with his dad to a show. So when poor Rocky Johnson was getting beaten down in the main event, who comes out to make the save? His son, and we knew that he was going to get into wrestling. But none of us had any idea that he would go to the heights that he would become, and I would always joke with him and say, hey, you know, listen, I can get us back in that flea market there outside of Tampa. Just say the word because and we're there. I'm not so sure that this whole WWE thing is working out for you." Kelly recently announced the upcoming debut of his new promotion. Thunder Rosa says she is the healthiest she has been in her entire career. On the December 16th, 2023 edition of AEW Collision, Thunder Rosa would return from a 17 month stint on the shelf after suffering a serious back injury. With the injury, she had been forced to vacate the AEW Women's World Championship. While speaking to Rock 95 in a recent interview, Rosa spoke about her injury, first noting that she is the healthiest she has been in her career so far. "This is the healthiest I've been in my career, mentally, physically, and spiritually. For all of those who are doubting or questioning my injury, or whatever, it's proven that I was injured. It's proven that I couldn't defend the championship. You know, it tore my guts and my heart that I was not able to, you know, do things the right way. But, whatever happened, everything happens for a reason. So those 17 months that I was away from the ring really taught me that I'm stronger than ever, that I can win, accomplish anything that I put my mind into and also that I am super talented and super relentless and that I love what I do and professional wrestling has given me everything in life and nobody and nothing will take that away from me so haters, I'm still here." Rosa recently issued a hair vs hair match challenge to a previous AEW rival. You can read more about that here. Mark Briscoe makes a promise to his children ahead of his match with Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite. On the June 4th edition of AEW Dynamite, Mark Briscoe is set to take on AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in singles action. On last week's edition of AEW Dynamite, Moxley would choke Mark Briscoe out in a mixed trios bout. In a new social media digital exclusive, Mark Briscoe cut a promo on Jon Moxley, noting that the two are on a collision course for this week's AEW Dynamite. "Y'all, Monday morning, rise and grind, baby. Salute to the working man, start of the work week. Don't mind me. I just been scooping chicken like I've been doing for the better part of the last three decades. But Monday morning means one thing and one thing alone. It's only two days till Wednesday when it's time for me to clock in to my other job. So at this point, Jon Moxley, I'm talking straight to you. Moxley, we started off in a similar fashion in this professional wrestling game. We went through the barbed wire, the light tubes. We've been in the Combat Zone. Our careers were on very similar parallel paths at one point. But now, we on a collision course, because Wednesday night, we got Mark Briscoe versus the AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley." Briscoe continued, reflecting on coming home to his children after his loss on Dynamite, vowing to his kids that he will never quit. "I came home last week, Thursday morning, and my 5-year-old son, 4-year-old son trailing right behind him, 2-year-old son trailing right behind him, 1-year-old son trailing right behind him, my 5-year-old boy, he said, 'Daddy, did you quit last night when that man was choking you? Did you quit?' I said, 'son, hell no, I ain't quitting. I will never quit. No matter what, that's not what we do. We don't quit. It was a referee stoppage. That happens.' But now my kids are sitting there questioning me. They doubting me. 'Daddy, did you quit?' That hurt my heart more than anything that, more than anything that's hurt my heart in a long time. I said, 'no son, we don't take the easy way out around here.' That's what you've been doing, man. You're so tough, you're so hard, but you can't do nothing on your own. You got your minions. You got Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir, but I see right through you. You can't do it on your own. You need somebody to have your back. You don't do it the hard way. You take the easy way out. Well, Mox, let me tell you something. That's not what we do around here. That's not how we do it. That's not how them boys do it. 23 years, tag team wrestler. 13-plus-time tag team champion. I could have quit the minute that my brother moved on. My brother got up outta here and moved on up. I could've quit, I could've been done with this. But nah, trying to show my kids that ain't no quit in me, ain't no quit in us, that's not how we do. So Moxley, you can try to take the easy way out all you want, but I'm a do it like a man, and Wednesday night, Imma have the wife line the kids up one by one by one by one in front the TV, they're gonna watch daddy whoop a man's ass. You understand what i'm saying? So be ready to man up." You can check out the full promo from Mark Briscoe here. Several other bouts have been set for Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. Kacy Catanzaro (Katana Chance in WWE) signed with WWE in 2017 after making his on American Ninja Warrior as the first woman to complete a City Qualifiers course and the first woman to complete a City Finals course. Going straight from American Ninja Warrior to the WWE Performance Center, Catanazaro didn't get the independent experience where many learn to hone their craft and character. Speaking on the Lightweights podcast, Catanazaro was asked where she developed her style. "This is a very good question because I think for me, it's different. A lot of people that I've spoken to that have had different experiences came from wrestling on the independents and were able to come here, a lot of people kind of did a lot of that there (on the independents) because there is a lot more freedom. I always felt like, at the Performance Center, for the people that came from the independents, they were like, 'You being here is the dream. You're able to be here. This is better than anything.' Some other people would say they got to figure themselves out with the freedom of not having producers, TV, and all of these restrictions. I don't know if I was able to fully really find myself in it because when you're in there and you're getting on TV and put in these spots, you're needed to be a specific thing right away. You can try different things and try different characters, but if it's decided where they want you to be, I just want to do that and do the right thing and do whatever they needed. I don't know if I, creatively enough, pushed those boundaries to be like, 'Even though this is what I'm supposed to do, I need to figure out how to do what I'm supposed to be.' I think that was an ongoing struggle of mine throughout my journey. I don't know if I ever got to do that and fully find if I was myself and what I wanted to do with no restrictions, what it would have been. That's why it's a really hard question. You do have the time before you're on TV, you're in promo classes and doing stuff where you are figuring out what works best, but what is going to stick out?" she pondered. Catanzaro was released by WWE on May 2nd. Elsewhere during the interview, she discussed her name change during her time with the company. You can find her full comments here. Cora Jade (Elayna Black) was part of the WWE releases made on June 2nd. Jade was featured on NXT TV prior to her release, involved in a team with Roxanne Perez, and made trips to TNA Wrestling as part of the WWE and TNA partnership. At NXT Deadline 2023, CM Punk met with Cora in a backstage segment and told her that he was proud of her. Cora grew up a Punk fan and there is footage of Cora meeting Punk at a signing when she was a kid. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the Ariel Helwani Show, Jade discussed the segment with Punk and said he was the first person she talked to after her release. "Having your idol tell you that they are proud of you, not everyone in the world gets that. I always say, he's my answer if people ask, 'If you could have dinner with anybody, dead or alive, who would it be?' It would be him. I would have given that answer. Now, me, him, Roxy [Roxanne Perez] and Ace [Ace Steel] will all go out to eat and I am doing that. It's so weird to have that person in your life who literally shaped who I am. I was the biggest fan of him. To have that person as a mentor and be there for all my big moments and always give advice and be there. He was the first person I talked to after I got fired. Literally the first person. I feel like he's the best person to get advice from. Obviously, he's been through it all and he knows what he's doing. He always gives me advice not to necessarily do what he's done and say things too early or say things when you feel them, to control your emotions. He's always been good about helping me realize what I need to do and always gives good advice in those times. I couldn't be more thankful for him. He's shaped me so much as a wrestler, growing up and as a person, and the promo skills," she said. Elsewhere during the interview, Jade detailed her WWE release.
