A new addition to the Grand Slam card. Starting AEW's four-hour Summer Blockbuster special was a singles match between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay. The match ended in a time-limit draw and afterward, Strickland asked Ospreay for sudden death. Before they could run it back, The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta & Marina Shafir) showed up. The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) entered the picture and took aim at Strickland. They handcuffed him to the ropes and repeatedly superkicked him. Ospreay ended up stepping in front of Strickland to take The Bucks' double superkick with thumbtacks lodged in the bottom of their shoes. Making the save were the AEW World Trios Champions The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata). A 10-man tag between the two sides has been made official for Grand Slam Mexico on June 18th. Here is the updated lineup for that show: * MJF vs. Místico * CMLL World Women's Championship: Zeuxis (c) vs. Mercedes Moné * Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Matt Jackson & Nicholas Jackson vs. Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe, Katsuyori & Powerhouse Hobbs

The WorkHorsemen are back in the mix. As the second half of AEW's four-hour Summer Blockbuster was airing, a backstage interview with Big Bill and Bryan Keith took place. After picking up a win over Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) in a Street Fight in May, the duo were looking for another team to face. Stepping into the frame were The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & J.D. Drake). Both Drake and Henry had been sidelined with injuries but were cleared to return to in-ring action in late May. The last time Drake and Henry teamed was on a May 2024 edition of AEW Collision.

Nothing was settled between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay at AEW Summer Blockbuster 2. In the opening contest on the night, Swerve and Ospreay battled to a 30-minute time-limit draw. Near the end of the bout, Swerve hit a Vertebreaker and followed up with a House Call, but knocked Ospreay to the apron. As Swerve was setting up for a double stomp from the top rope, the time limit expired. Swerve called for sudden death, but the music of The Death Riders hit, prompting Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir to come to the ring. Swerve was jumped by The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson). As the Bucks handcuffed Swerve to the ropes and were looking to superkick him with thumbtacked shoes, Ospreay jumped in the way to take the kick. WAIT A MINUTE! @WillOspreay just took the shot for @SwerveConfident from the @YoungBucks! Swerve previously defeated Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 to retain the AEW World Title. Fans can find Fightful's coverage of AEW Summer Blockbuster 2 by clicking here. Hangman Page is seen talking to Christopher Daniels, who is attempting to convince him of the advantages of collaborating with others in the locker room, even those he may not prefer to assist. Jon Moxley is spotted walking behind Hangman, sending the rest of his Death Riders after his next challenger. * Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay ends in a time limit draw (30:00) - Swerve Strickland demanded sudden death overtime. Suddenly, the Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Claudio Castagnoli) swarmed the ringside area. Strickland was focused on them when Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson blindsided him from behind. The Young Bucks handcuffed Strickland to the middle rope. Wheeler then tossed them a bag containing custom Swerve sneakers with thumbtacks on the bottom. They went for a Double Superkick, but Will Ospreay dove in at the last second to take the hit for his rival. Earlier in the day, The Hurt Syndicate brutally attacked Komander backstage, during which MJF was seen holding his mask. The commentary noted that Mascara Dorada would take Komander's place in the six-man tag later tonight. * Mistico def. Blake Christian - After the match, MVP presented MJF to confront Mistico, calling him the industry's most well-rounded wrestler and vowing to rip off his “dime store mask” at Grand Slam. MJF is also bringing back his super Americana persona from last year. Mistico interrupted, challenging MJF to face him next week at Arena Mexico, and knocked him down with a punch. This led The Hurt Syndicate's Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin to hit the ring. Just as MJF focused on taking Mistico’s mask, Speedball Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, and Mascara Dorada ran in for the save from behind. * Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, & MJF) def. Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, & Komander - After the match, Lashley and Benjamin attacked Knight and Bailey, leaving MJF to remove Dorada's mask alone. As he paraded around the ring with it like a trophy, Mistico charged the ring and locked him in an armbar, forcing MJF to tap. The Hurt Syndicate rushed to MJF’s aid as Mistico exited, glaring at his opponent. - As Hangman Page's music hit, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta dragged him, bound and beaten, to the ring, where Moxley and Marina Shafir waited. Moxley warned Page to focus on their AEW Title clash, stating that he has four weeks to step up or be eliminated. Page retaliated with a headbutt and narrowly dodged a chair attack before Samoa Joe, Shibata, and Hobbs drove off the Death Riders. Page vowed to hunt them down and fight for the title at any cost, even riding through death itself. * Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Melo) Be sure to check out our review podcast, embedded in the video at the top of this page, which features a breakdown of all the action from this week's AEW action. Mr. Iguana is marked for success in WWE. Mr. Iguana had a standout performance at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide to the point that WWE aired a video package hyping him and La Yesca on WWE Raw. He was also in attendance for WWE NXT. Speaking to Línea Directa TV, Mr. Iguana was asked what it would take to be in the same league as John Cena. "I’m there effectively. Like literally I was in the Performance Center yesterday and they told me, you’re not going through NXT — you’re heading straight to the main roster. I was literally taking pictures with Shawn Michaels and they told me they need you here because your shirt is the top seller in WWE, and you’re also the fastest-rising star when it comes to action figures and trading cards. Being in WWE is the dream of every child and I will have all the time in the world for my city because thanks to them and thanks to being culichi, I would not be where I am today," he said. It is unknown when Mr. Iguana will make his WWE main roster debut. Fans can find Fightful's coverage of WWE x AAA Worlds Collide by clicking here.
