Gov. Bobby Jindal appeared on Sean Hannity’s America on FOX News. He defended his response to Obama’s joint address to Congress and talked about some of the ideas that were included in that widely panned speech:

“This is a real philosophical debate about how do we move our country forward,” Jindal said. “One side agrees with government spending and expansion. We believe in growing the private sector.”

In his speech last week, Jindal criticized the president’s $787 billion economic stimulus package as laden with unnecessary spending that had been added by a Democratic Congress. He talked of the need to cut taxes and limit government spending at a time when polls show a majority of Americans are looking to the federal government to reverse the economic downturn.

The morning after giving the response to President Obama’s joint address to Congress, Gov. Bobby Jindal appeared on NBC’s Today Show. He did a much better job than he did in the actual response. Jindal is a much better conversational speaker than he is a formal speaker, at this point in his career, at least. I think he’s somewhat the opposite of Obama, in that regard. Obama gives great speeches, but in a more informal conversation of interview, he often looks lost, as he searches for the right words and tries to avoid stepping on any rhetorical landmines.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal gave the Republican response to Pres. Obama’s joint address to Congress. By almost any account, this was not a good performance by Jindal. It seemed like he was using talking points from the RNC that weren’t written to suit his style. He looked stiff and uncomfortable. Clearly, this was not the outing that Jindal or the RNC wanted. The expectations were set exceptionally high, but even still, he has nowhere to go but up.

Cal Thomas Interviews Bobby Jindal. I think that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is the best chance the GOP has to win the White House, in either 2012 or 2016. He has all the qualities that the GOP should be looking for in a candidate — he’s intelligent, articulate, likeable, geuinely conservative, and, perhaps most importantly these days, he’s not a rich, old white guy.
